Pilates Teacher Training
This training at CORE Therapy & Pilates is a comprehensive program designed by certified manual physical therapist and PMA-CPT, Stephen C. Dunn, MPT, COMT, PMA®-CPT and master Pilates trainer, Cheryl C. Dunn, PMA®-CPT. The certification program was developed for those practitioners interested in obtaining or advancing the skills necessary to teach and offer interactive-therapeutic exercise and activities to patients and clients.
The Complete Teacher Training (including Mat Teacher Training) is a 465-hr program composed of 7-modules. Tuition is for this couse is $4,900. A special 95-hr Pilates Mat Teacher Training program of 3-modules is also available.
Objectives
The purpose of the teacher training is to advance the skill-set of physical therapy practitioners as well as give an aspiring pilates instructor a complete knowledge of the Pilates Method and how the body works through the system. In the program, practitioners will: (a) advance their understanding of biomechanics and human anatomy; (b) learn the full Pilates repertoire including how to properly cue a client using manual contacts and words; and, (c) how to effectively implement a Pilates program within the clinical setting. Upon completion of the teacher training, practitioners will be fully prepared to take the Pilates Method Alliance Certification Exam to gain the PMA®-CPT credential.
The Prerequisites
Each participant must complete the Facial Anatomy Course provided by CORE. In addition, participants should have had at least 10-private Pilates sessions, 20-hours of personal practice, and a minimum of 2-years of movement practice, e.g. yoga, dance, etc., prior to beginning the teacher training program. Participants are also asked to provide a letter of recommendation from their certified Pilates instructor verifying the completion of these prerequisites.
Fascial Anatomy: Day 1
Study the "New Science of Anatomy." See video of fascia in a living person from a french hand surgeon. The anatomy lesson will come from the dissection of Thomas Myers know as Anatomy Trains: Myofascial Meridians.
Essential Exercises: Day 2
Learn the fundamentals of Pilates with the current research of Physical Therapy and core stabilization. (This 2 day course over the first weekend is required for the program but can be taken alone for $420. Great for PT's, PTA's, OT's, COTA's, MT's, Pilates, GYROTONIC®, Yoga or other movement instructors).

-"Centered" working with Scoliosis: Sept 24 - 25, 2016 with Madeline Black. $500, Early Bird Special $450, if paid in full by 7/1/16.
In this workshop, you will learn to identify structural and functional scoliosis using simple assessment skills and understand the movement mechanics of the spine along with the dysfunction created by scoliosis. Create an effective exercise program for your clients with scoliosis using specific exercises that target the balance between release and support of the structure. Madeline will utilize the mat, roller, balls, Spine Corrector and Pilates Chair to identify movement patterns and develop corrective exercises.
