Physical Therapy Success Stories
I am so happy I found CORE because they helped me rehab my neck that was injured in a car accident and while doing such a great job at that, taught me skills and techniques that will benefit me for the rest of my life.
I look forward to continuing my learning with them for many years to come.

It has now been over a month since Stephen ended therapy sessions due to my progress. My lower back still feels great. And with the stretching exercises he showed me, my strength seems to be getting better and better. I had been to doctors and chiropractors before, but no one had explained to me the fundamental muscles important for core strength. Thanks Stephen!!

CORE Therapy & Pilates has helped not only with 2 separate injuries, but in everything I do.
Initially I went to Core Therapy for Physical Therapy and GYROTONIC® classes after a bilateral mastectomy with latisimus dorsi Flap reconstruction. With muscles being moved around, it was important for me to get my strength back all while opening up my shoulders and chest.
Six months later I had a herniated disc and pinched nerve in my lower back. Stephen's focus on my entire back and strengthening my core has me focused on how I do things every day.
Working with several therapist and instructors has also offered me different insights during my sessions and has given me numerous exercises I can do at home or on my own.
Sitting, standing or running-I am constantly using the techniques I have learned at CORE.

When I came to Core Therapy, it was because of an ache in my chest. What Stephen and the other physical therapists soon taught me was that it was about much more than chest pain. It was about taking care of my core muscles, and changing my exercise routines to incorporate the stretches and exercises that I learned from Stephen. I've enjoyed running my whole life, but at 44, it was starting to take its toll on my body. I was trying to get back into being able to run longer distances on a regular basis. That was my first goal. After a few months of working with these wonderful physical therapists, I changed my goal to really get back in the race- running a half marathon. 7 years and 2 kids ago, I did the Seattle half in 2 hours. This time, I wanted to try to do the Austin 3M in 2 hours. I did it in 1 hour 55 minutes! I felt great. It was one of the best races I've run in my life, thanks to all the hard work from Core. They changed my life for the better.

I came to Stephen's office with a painfully injured heel. By the time I finished therapy, not only did my pain go away, but I left with a stronger, more balanced body that will resist future injury. Stephen believes in treating problems not just symptoms. I learned that the pain in my heel was the result of weakness and imbalance in other parts of my body which put extra pressure on my heel.
By treating those weaknesses, I was
able to improve my overall well-being by increasing my range of movement,
endurance and even relieving pain in my
lower back. The environment at Core Therapy is relaxing and fun and I would recommend it to anyone."

I was referred to Stephen Dunn by my doctor when I told him I had pain in my left shoulder, my left knee and left buttock. I injured my left knee playing indoor soccer and by left buttock playing lacrosse. This was making it very painful to run which I do twice a week to relieve stress and stay in shape. After the first 6 sessions with Mr. Dunn, during which I did his recommended stretching and exercises at home, I had no pain in my shoulder or knee, and was able to run again. I still had some soreness in my piriformis muscle, but it was much better than when I started. After another 8 weeks of appointments, my piriformis doesn’t give me any pain, and I’m running as well as I did before my injuries!! Based on my level of pain, I was sure I was going to need surgery on both my shoulder and knee, but was able to avoid that expensive and long recovery surgery following Mr. Dunn’s suggested exercises and stretching. I would highly recommend Steve to anyone who has joint pain to try his methods of physical therapy before going to a sports medicine doctor, or considering surgery.

I found Stephen through an article in a local paper, which was lucky for me. I have Multiple Sclerosis and thought that I would never move again but Stephen and Cheryl helped me, by using Pilates, to build my strength. Stephen even helped me walk a couple of times which was great. I thank them for helping me move again. I would recommend them to anyone who would like to improve their overall strength and conditioning.

Early last spring we had some unseasonably warm days and I couldn't wait to get out in the garden after a long cold winter. In my enthusiasm, I kind of overdid it. I felt a little sore afterwards in my neck and right arm but didn't think it was anything unusual. Several days passed and the pain only worsened and even became excruciating and unrelenting. What was equally distressing was the numbness, tingling and weakness in my right thumb and fingers. I saw my family doctor and she recommended rest, anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants, and pain medication. When that didn't help, she referred me to a chiropractor. After several adjustments, I was still feeling just as much pain. It was at that point that I had the good fortune to have a very knowledgeable friend recommend I make an appointment with Steven Dunn, physical therapist. After my very first physical therapy session, I started feeling relief. Steven Dunn was able to do what my MD, anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants, pain-killers and even chiropractic care could not do. I will be forever grateful to Steve. Thanks to him I can garden again and continue with my dental hygiene career in comfort. I feel like "I got my life back".

I was referred to Cheryl by a close friend that was doing Pilates with her on a weekly basis. I was a little nervous about doing Pilates because of my size. I had been to several other Pilates studio's to ask questions and was very intimidated by all the skinny, beautiful women that were working out. After meeting Cheryl and having a private posture assessment and session, I was immediately interested in the things she was teaching me. We did not use the equipment on that 1st day because of all the things she was teaching me. We then progressed to the Reformer and I fell in love with the smooth movement of this crazy looking machine. The thing that was most impressive, was that her teaching style was appropriate for me. The detail was amazing and she had me doing things within a few weeks that blew my mind. I had always had a little lower back pain and stiffness that was gone shortly after starting my training program. The private setting was not intimidating and the individualized care is what kept me going back for more. Thanks for improving my mental and physical fitness!
